[Me'a Dollar Ba'Kis]

145 mm x 200 mm / Bilingual

Designed as part of a book design course, 2026.

The book [Me'a Dollar Ba'Kis] is a collection of memories and photographs bridging two worlds. Through the eyes of my grandparents, a story of an entire lifetime in the former Soviet Union is revealed— a reality of food stamps and daily struggle, alongside moments of music and brave human connections. It documents the decision to leave the familiar, pack an entire home into containers, and land in a foreign country to start everything from scratch.

Alongside their immigration story, I bring my own perspective as an "impostor immigrant"—
a first-generation Israeli born to immigrant parents. This book is the bridge between the memories my grandparents unpacked from those containers and the complex identity of growing up here in Israel. It is a story of roots, survival, and the success of building a new life with only a hundred dollars in one's pocket.
